It’s with great sadness that we learn of the passing of Charles Godfrey Kazibwe, CEO of Transform Africa and friend to AFFORD.
Onyekachi Wambu, our Executive Director paid tribute to a fellow Diaspora Warrior.
It was a great shock to learn of Charles’ death. He was a great believer in Africa. His organisation worked tirelessly with ordinary African people in several countries on a transformation agenda. Those close to him recall the hours and time he spent on behalf of the continent. He was a great exemplar of organised diaspora in action. A man of integrity and vision. He will be greatly missed by all of us in the sector. We offer sincere condolences to his family.
Charles was a true stalwart of African development – his death will no doubt leave a huge vacuum. I recall our engagement on his many fundraising and crowdfunding efforts for Transform Africa and his willingness to share his journey with us. May his diasporic legacy live on.Stella Opoku-Owusu, Deputy Executive Director, AFFORD
Charles was planning on retiring this year and going home to Uganda, completing his disaporic journey. We know it’s tough for everyone out there but if you can, please help his family to make that a reality.
